Although the biggest carnival in the world in Rio de Janiero http://www.rio-carnival.net/ just ended on March 4, and many of us might not have a chance to attend the carnival, Silas Silva, line cook at the cafeteria at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Burlington, brought Brazilian's cuisine to all patrons at the hospital on Thursday, March 20.
Silas was born in Timoteo in Northern Brazil. He began his culinary career at the Sheraton Hotel in Rio de Janeiro seventeen years ago. He joined the Lahey team in September 2013 and had previously worked at hotels and universities in the Boston area. With the assistance of the culinary team lead by Executive Chef David Cox, Silas prepared the following Brazilian cuisine:
Chicken with Okra
Pink Beans and Rice
Polenta
Tomato Salad
The meal was a success! Thank you Silas for bringing a taste of Brazil to us! Hopefully one day we will all have a chance to visit Brazil in person!
Obrigado Silas!
